Welcome

International Friends, Inc. is a non-profit, community-based program that brings together residents of the Tucson, Arizona community and International Students attending the University of Arizona for purposes of friendship, learning and sharing.

The program provides opportunities for students and Tucson citizens to learn about each other’s cultures in a personal and meaningful way. Students are able to experience life in the United States outside of the academic environment. The International Friends program is not a “live-in” hosting program. Students are invited to get-together once a month with their hosts, participate in everyday events, special holidays or traditional celebrations.

Do you want to make a “world of difference” in the life of a student or local host? If so, join us!. It‘s fun, it‘s easy, it changes lives.

“Our lives have been unbelievably enriched for the last seven years by our participation in International Friends. Some of our students have become a firm part of our family, and all hold a special place in our hearts. We know of no other cultural exchange program where the rewards are so great compared to the little investment of our time and energy.”

- Nancy Tyson & Harold Stevenson, Tucson Hosts

"It is a wonderful experience that any international student must be a part of. You get a chance to learn about Tucson and American culture. You have a family - people who can guide you through cultural shock and just spend time with. There are no words to express how grateful I am and how happy I am to have met them . I am so glad that I dared to fill out the IF application and take this journey."

- Nazorio Kone, Former student from Cote d'Ivoire
